With its clinker-built lapstrake hull
and solid keel, the Grimstadjolle is recognized as an exceptionally
easy-to-sail craft that feels like a much larger boat. The
Bermuda-rigged semi-decked sloop measures 5.65 meters (a
little over 18 feet) in overall length, features a full
fixed keel and 10 square meters of canvas for both foresail
and mainsail, as well as an additional 10 square meters
for the spinnaker.
Through the effort of wooden boat enthusiasts
in Norway, a number of Grimstadjolle sloops have been restored.
Their revival is so complete that GJ regattas are once again
enjoyed along the southern coastal fjords.
